The China Metallurgical Standard (YB / T 5108-1993) sets out the physical and chemical indicators, the allowable tolerances of the size and appearance. 
 
It also provides the following standards for the layer crack of the section:
(1) The layer crack of the brick: 
1) Bricks with a legnth of less than 400mm: when the width of the layer crack is between 0.26～0.50mm, the legnth should not be more than 40mm; when the width of the layer crack is between 0.51～1mm, the legnth should not be more than 25mm.
2) Bricks with a legnth of more than 400mm: when the width of the layer crack is between 0.26～0.50mm, the legnth should not be more than 80mm; when the width of the layer crack is between 0.51～1mm, the legnth should not be more than 50mm.
(2) When the layer crack of the brick is less than 0.25mm, there is no limit to the length. 
(3) Cracks more than 1mm are not allowable.
