The pros of fireclay brick
(1) It is weakly acidic at high temperature, so it has poor resistance to basic molten slags. However, with the increase of the Al2O3 content, its resistance to basic molten slags will increase. Besides, it has better thermal statiblity than silica brick and magnesia brick. 
(2) Blast fire clay brick can be used in the upper lining of the blast furnace after drying, vacuum dipping in phosphoric acid and secondary low-temperature firing. 
(3) It can be made with raw materials from local sources. It is cheap and durable and has advantages such as fireproof, insulation and moisture absorption. It is widely used in the buildings and architecture. the scarp bricks can be used as the aggregate of cement. 
(4) Fly ash fireclay brick is made of fly ash as the main raw material, mixed with coal gangue cement or clay materials, by batching, forming, drying and firing. It can make full use of industrial waste and save fuel.

(1) It has high density and heavier than other materials, so the structure should withstand larger weight, which results in a higher cost.
