Fire Clay Bricks Used In Glass Furnaces

Date:2016-07-21 10:49 | From:Zhengzhou Sunrise Refractory | Author:admin
Fire clay brick is made of refractory clay. It is widely used in the industry. It can be divided into common brick, multi-clinker brick, all-raw-material brick and high-silica brick.
Fire clay bricks
Fire clay brick is an acid refractory material. With the increase of Al2O3, its acidity decreases. Its thermal conductivity is the lowest among refractories. Although its refractoriness is up to 1700℃, its refractoriness under load is only about 1300℃. This is the biggest drawback of fire clay bricks. So, it cannot bear load or be pressurized at high temperature. When subjected to corrosion by R2O (K2O, Na2O), its refractoriness under load will drop to 1050℃. Therefore, it is usually used in the lower part of the sidewall and the low-temperature part of the bottom.

The thermal expansion coefficient of fire clay brick is the smallest among refractories. It has small crystals and uniformly dispersed small pores, which can buffer the stress simply. Since it has good thermal shock resistance within a wide range, it can achieve good results when used in the parts requiring good thermal shock, say, checker bricks of the low-temperature parts of regenerators, flues and refractories accessories used in feeder machines such as punch and feeder bowl.

There are many ways to manufacturing fire clay bricks, including artificial molding, ramming molding, pressing molding, mud casting molding and high pressure molding. Products made by different methods have different properties and different applications, even if they have the same chemical composition and raw materials. Checker bricks used in regenerators have small sizes and are generally made by high pressure molding. Large sidewall bricks and feeding chute bricks are usually made by vacuum mud casting molding. For products requiring precise dimensions, ramming molding is better.
